Little Wins Big Impact

Updated: Feb 18, 2021

Does anyone have a nagging voice in the back of their head reminding them of a mundane task that needs to be completed? If you’re like me you just ignore it. LOL. As a busy mom, wife, and business owner I feel pulled in several different directions on the daily. Often these annoying mundane tasks get ignored because they aren’t priority. I tell myself they aren’t priority, yet I feel discouraged and overwhelmed sometimes thinking about them.

Let me give you an example. I have had several files scattered across my desktop for months and honestly probably longer. Every time I open my laptop I cringe at these files. My brain craves organization, like most brains do. Not to mention I spend extra time trying to locate documents.

Guess what I did today? You guessed it. I took 3 minutes out of my busy day to organize my desktop to not only make it more aesthetically pleasing but to make my life easier too. Yes, that is right. THREE MINUTES. Why am I sharing this seemingly unimportant task? Because when we face that nagging voice and we keep a promise to ourselves, then we send a message to ourselves that we are dependable and we are capable of follow through. When we keep promises to ourselves and feel reliable then we increase our confidence.

The point here is not to add more to your to do list. But a reminder that little wins can have a big impact on our mental health. Anything that can make you feel proud of yourself is worth it. Let me encourage you to listen to that nagging voice today. Call the dentist, clean that junk drawer, call your Grandma. You might be surprised how little time it takes and how great you feel. You got this!
